PLEASE READ:
NOVICE U18s MUST be accompanied by a COMPETENT CLIMBER adult to DIRECTLY supervise the session if using ropes and auto belays. See below for definition of a competent climber.
Adults who wish to climb - please book a regular climbing or members climbing slot. If a climbing slot is not booking, the accompanying adult may only belay and supervise on this session.U18s who have been signed off to climb unsupervised do not need to book the additional supervising adult, but MUST be endorsed by the Far Peak Centre Manager. This will only happen after regular attendance to one of our climbing clubs.
This session is NOT suitable for novice adults wishing to bring children climbing on ropes or auto belays. For this, please look at our instructor led climbing sessions at https://www.farpeakclimbing.co.uk/climbing-taster-sessionsAm I a Competent Climber?

Skills include:
- Correctly fitting safe and recognized climbing equipment to themselves and others

- Adopting a safe technique to belay their climbing partner
- Bouldering with diligence and respect for other users
- Understanding the additional risks associated with the use of auto-belays and specific climbing equipment (lead climbing, training room apparatus etc).
Staying safe while bouldering:
All first-time boulderers will be given a safety briefing by a member of staff before being allowed to boulder with us. The key points of this brief must be adhered to. Anyone found to be repeatedly breaking these safety rules will be asked to leave the centre and refunds will not be given:
- Climbers must climb down from the bouldering wall. No one is permitted to jump from the wall on to the mats.
- Climbers must give plenty of space to other climbers. Do not walk directly underneath other climbers, or climb directly next to them.
- If a climber reaches the top of the bouldering wall, they should not put their hands over the top of the wall or try to climb over the wall.
- Shoes must be kept on for climbing.
- Personal belongings should be kept in the storage boxes and not on the bouldering mats.
- Food and drink must not be taken on to the bouldering mats.
- Pockets must be empty when bouldering.
- All watches and jewellery should be removed when bouldering.
